Jay Sorgi

Position:
News and Sports Anchor/Reporter, Packers Radio Network Studio Update Anchor, Wisconsin's Morning News Internet News Producer
Residence: Milwaukee
Joined WTMJ: 1998
Did You Know:   Jay and "The Big Unit" Bill Michaels share the same birthday - December 4th.

Background:   A lifelong sports fanatic whose grandfather sang with Dennis Morgan and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra on a weekly show in the early years of 620 WTMJ, Jay was well-groomed for a career in radio at WTMJ. While a student at Marquette, Jay joined WTMJ as a producer for the Green Bay Packers Radio Network and soon began his tenure as a sports and news anchor. In addition, Jay honed his radio skills doing play-by-play with the Rockford Lightning of the Continental Basketball Association, where his broadcasts were heard nationally. Today, Jay is a news and sports anchor for WTMJ. He files reports for Wisconsin's Morning News, is sports anchor for the Saturday edition of Wisconsin's Weekend Morning News and the post-game NFL scoreboard anchor for the Green Bay Packers Radio Network, and he fills in as a sports anchor on Wisconsin's Morning News and The Green House. Jay also writes and produces news and sports content for www.620wtmj.com during Wisconsin's Morning News and blogs on packersradionetwork.com.

Personal:   Jay, who is married, enjoys playing keyboards in jam sessions with friends, cooking Italian food and running off the calories, and being involved in various community service projects around Milwaukee and Wisconsin. For those wondering, Jay is not related to former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Jim Sorgi, although he loved hearing Matt Lepay's play-by-play calls of him!

Let Jay know of any "impact players" in our community who use sports to serve and impact the lives of others -- he wants to tell their stories.
