Phil is a homegrown radio guy, discussing the news with plenty of humor on The Green House show every afternoon. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1982, he pursued radio because he was "bad in math", and at the time he wanted to be the next Bob Uecker. It was at UWM that Phil found his broadcasting talent. He worked at the WUWM, and then briefly found himself in Oklahoma City at WKY. Two years later, he was back on the Milwaukee airwaves at WEZW and WISN.
Each year, Phil compiles his favorite moments from The Green House from that year, puts them all together on a CD called "Green House Nuggets" and sells them at Christmas-time to raise money for St. Mary's Hospice in Milwaukee.
"It's an honor to have people invite you into their lives as part of their afternoon routine. I just like to make people smile...give 'em a laugh for some stupid reason in an otherwise serious world. The greatest compliment I ever received came a few years ago while on remote selling my Nuggets CD. A gentleman quietly approached to buy a CD and whispered to me, 'My wife died a couple of months ago and you're the only one that can still make me laugh.' I'll never forget the day he told me that."
