St. Louis Signs Suppan

The St. Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that the Cardinals have signed Jeff Suppan just days after he was released by the Brewers:

 

He will be joining the team in Phoenix and hopes to be active early next week. He will be signing for the pro-rated minimum, his agent said.

 

“This opportunity not only reunites Soup with a great team and city but also a return to a starting role,” his agent  Scott Leventhal said.

 

He was released by the Brewers on Monday after going 0-2 with a 7.84 ERA in 15 games.

 

Finally, a Cardinals pitcher the Brewers can hit!

    so can we finally fire our manager and pitching coach after suppan fixes a mechanical flaw and does decent for the cards? because that's basically what I'm expecting to happen...

    I wouldn't be so sure about that... I can see Soup shutting the Crew out for 6 innings next time we face him.

    Soup will not just shut out the Brewers, he will win the World Series. We can give them Wolf too. That'd be good for both teams too.

    Jeff will continue at about his career FIP, just like he did in Milwaukee. That will translate into wins, and somebody will say that they fixed a mechanical flaw and so the Brewers should fire somebody. Smart. Real smart.

    Sure. Jeff Suppan will lead the Cardinals to the World Series. He will be that "go to guy" that we always heard he would be in Mil. Wow! This is too funny to even think about. Every team in the league abused the guy, I don't think that is going to change. The only thing that might help him a bit is that the Cardinals can actually play defense which the Brewers are embarrassingly bad at. Fundamentals are unknown to the Brewers.
