ANOTHER EMPTY DOYLE PROMISEBy Charlie SykesFor Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch comments on Jim Doyle's latest admission he's been blowing hot air: Charlie, Looking back at Governor Doyle's announcement less than 40 days before the 2006 election against Mark Green, everyone seemed pretty confident and pleased with the leadership Wisconsin was going to take in using alternative energy like wind and solar power. Four UW campuses were going "off the grid."
Badger Herald story:
UW River Falls press release:
Now Sunday, with just a phone call from Copenhagen, Doyle and everyone involved admit that can't happen and they never really knew how it could. What really concerns me is not the fact that Governor Doyle broke another campaign promise. That's as interesting a news story as "dog bites man."
But we are about to go off on another energy related jihad with Doyle, Spencer Black and Mark Miller in the form of the Global Warming legislation. How, then do we recover from the loss of 68,000 jobs and nearly $10 million per year loss in disposable income for Wisconsin citizens (according to the Beacon Hill study) when a few years down the road this plan doesn't work either.
Among many unrealistic proposals buried in this legislation that will come out in the weeks to come is the provision that within 20 years all newly constructed homes built in Wisconsin must be "zero net energy." This means no new home may use more energy than is provided by on-site renewable energy generation. I'll be interested to see how we accomplish this in northern Wisconsin from November to March.
You don't get an 'A' for effort, like the enviros repeatedly give themselves, when it will inevitably cost jobs and money.
Mike Huebsch

Well it really isn't that he is a master at anything. We have people in this state that have no clue who they are voting for. Do you wonder why we are in the top ten states in taxes? I guess you could say wisconsin folks love to bend over and take it otherwise they would not be voting guys like bald headed Jim in office in the first place.

There you go, underestimating Doyle again. Stealing thunder is a key election technique. How much you want to bet this legislation is all about stealing that election angle from Neumann? Even though Neumann Homes zero net energy came first, it will have no 'vote capital' if every builder must have zero net energy in 20 years, whether it is realistic legislation or not. Doyle is a master of this tactic as he proved on Mark Green's political corpse.

I can't stand Bill O'Reilly. Since his "those who don't think man-made global warming is real are idiots" comment a few years back I've never listened to that ego-maniac-smug-tall-skinny-dork who some thought would actually supplant Rush Limbaugh when B O'R got into talk radio about 8 years ago (or so). O'Reilly is about O'Reilly. An arrogant f*ck who says what needs be said to get ratings. The guy was host of Inside Edition for the love of Obama. Just had to vent....

Great points. Its why I vehemently disagree with people like Bill O'reilly who say we should nonetheless be proud as a country that Obama won the Nobel prize. Why should we proud that he won a prize that clearly is insignificant and nothing more than promoting a political agenda? Its ridiculous to treat something as respectful when it becomes clear it is undeserving. Guys like O'Reilly just don't get that.

As bad as Tony Earl was Governor in the early 80's,he is no comparison to this idiot Governor we have now. What were the people of this state thinking when they voted this guy in for a 2nd term!

Sorry Jordan, but those of us living south of the cheese curtain got Doyle beat. In fact, you have one of our very finest up there at the federal license plate factory.

I want Doyle to live in a "zero net energy" house in Superior, WI from December to March - Either he will need a little nuclear reactor in the basement or 20,000 squirrels running on little treadmills

I wonder how much energy Doyle is losing daily from his bald head? They say you lose most of your body heat from your head. If thats the case he needs to have his head zero net energy.

Unfortunately, thanks to the Govfather's incredibly sticky repeat offender fingers, the road isn't going to last long enough to see this fiasco to fruition either.

Good one, I think I'll use that one myself, thanks. And let's not forget his cat like prowess, in moving monies from this fund to pay that fund, and his raising this fee and that fee so as to not raise our taxes. I mean, how DOES he DO it? And not just every once in a while, but on a consistent basis...the man is astounding....FART!

Let's see, Gore gets a Nobel prize for flawed works on global warming. Obama gets a Nobel prize for accomplishing nothing. Having combined both feats, Doyle should be a shoe-in for a Nobel prize in 2010.

And does he even care anymore? He doesn't have a record to defend in an election, and he'll be long gone, tucked into a BO-appointed position, when we feel the effects of his decisions.

You can't judge liberals on whether their ideas produce results or if they are even feasible. They have good intentions, thats all that matters. Until it destroys our economy.
