KLEEFISCH REPORT: CALLING IT WHAT IT ISBy Charlie SykesTis the season for us to renew our disgust over the "de-Christmasing" of Christmas. Every year it seems more things morf into "holiday" celebrations, "holiday" trees and "holiday" lights. A lot of times, political correctness eclipses our focus on the real point of December 25 or it at least blocks our view a little. Not for some, though. Cheers to the people who know that "holiday" means "holy day" and that Christmas is why we have "holiday" trees to begin with. And cheers to the people who celebrate Christmas-Christ's birthday- as a part of their community's history. Perhaps they can teach at lessons at the state capitol. There are still places in Wisconsin's public sector where Christmas is welcome! |

Seriously, let's pray for Fred, Michael, bannedcat, Brian H., et.al., that they may see the Light and the Truth. Merry Christmas to all!

You mean Jesus WASN"T born under a fir tree in the snowy hills of Bethlehem on December 25, 0000? Tell me more Fred, please! Whatever would we do without you to teach us?

Christians reckoned the birth of Christ around the winter solstice to convert pagans. Just because there are no Christmas trees in Bethlehem doesn't mean the central focus of the holy day isn't the same: the birth of Christ. You want to talk about "diversity" - you'll see none greater in the way Catholics/Christians worship. From the US to Africa, it varies greatly, and in beautiful ways. Just because it doesn't fit YOUR definition of worship means it's all invalid? What a straw man argument!

To 4Liberty It is my honor to fight to protect your views, it is your obligation as an American to respect mine. I may wear my love for God on my sleeve for all to see but tell me where do you wear yours? If you don't love God, that is your view and I am ok with that. Just let myself and those that do enjoy our Freedom as much as you enjoy yours.

Of course nobody was there about 2000 years ago on December 25th to issue a birth certificate to Mary and Joseph, so we don't know the exact date of Jesus's birth - of course the Christian Church turned the pagan solstice celebrations into a celebration of Jesus's birth - that's a good thing - go have your pagan celebrations if you want - it's our religious freedom to celebrate as we choose, also.

Those of you who get so whiny about the "attacks" you think you are enduring might want to do a little research on Christmas traditions. I doubt that there were many decorated balsams in Bethlehem. The date of Christmas is strangely close to the winter solstice. Many of you are spending a lot of time defending pagan customs. Strange.

Amy, I am thinking both. It is definitely filled with vitriol and sneering condescension.

"Chili Dinner" ain't in the bible either. Yet, they havin' one with the Nativity Scene! What's my point? The traditions are so paganized and humanized anyway, just enjoy the mellowness of the season and be happy yo'self! And "God bless the Jewish retailer and the Chinese Manufacturer, God bless them, everyone".

I'd much rather be worshipping religious Bible thumping crackpots than Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and the other liberal progressives. Something about keeping my individual freedoms sounds better than giving the govt control over every aspect of my life.

AS long as we buckle under to all these groups, we will lose what we have. They have more say because they unite and are backed by those who hate any tradition we hold dear. It seems we have to fight for everything anymore. No pledge to our flag, no prayers & no christmas. Jackson & Sharpton has more say than the average citizen. WHY?? BECAUSE WE LET THEM.

If you can find "separation of church and state" in the Constitution, I'll pay for your Christmas presents. ALL the First Amendment does is protect the FREE EXPRESSION of religion from government interference. It DOES NOT prohibit the display of religious imagery in public. In fact, it DEFENDS my right to put a Nativity in public. Anyone who says it doesn't is either inherently dishonest or just really, really stupid. Which one are you, 4Liberty?

Rebecca must never have heard of separation of church and state. Probably becaus she was too busy worshipping Bush and his merry band of religious bible thumping crackpots.
