A VERY BAD OMEN

By Charlie Sykes

,,,for Mark Neumann. Wispolitics is reporting:

Longtime Republican heavyweight Jim Klauser is no longer backing Mark Neumann's guv campaign and has decided to instead support Walker, according to a GOP source with knowledge of the decision.

Klauser's wife, Shirley, has been serving as Neumann's campaign treasurer. But she's leaving as well, the source said.

Neumann's campaign has been flailing and failing to gain any traction, as Walker has been locking up the grassroots.  Initially, Klauser's backing gave him some credibility, but so far Neumann has shown no sign of being able to capitalize. His defection at this stage is a potentially devastating blow.

The over under now:

Does Neumann stay in the race past January 1?

Not to stray off topic but the same thing can be said of Sarah Palin stepping down as Governor. She spared the taxpayers of Alaska a buttload of money from the bogus lawsuits being thrown at her.

Oh THATS what you say is a bad mark on Walkers record? Him stepping down so as not to sap Green of all his funds to fight DUH-OYLE. Sorry it was a good thing. Walker all the way.

Walker got out of the race for the good of REpubicans. Neumann should do the same. He is obviously not wanted by the majority of conservatives.

I like Mark Neumann a lot. I'd vote for him over any Democrat in the history of th eworld. But he needs to see things as they are. Neumann's time is not now -- at least as far as governor is concerned. Walker is the best and strongest candidate. Neumann maybe could still take on Feingold. 2010 is shaping up to be a big GOP year. But Walker is going to be the next Wisconsin governor.

The Walker and Barrett supporters are so blind. . you keep paying those outragous taxes and tell everyone else who to vote for. Why would the people of Wisconsin want all of the problems that are in Milwaukee County? We don't!! Stay at your jobs Barrett and Walker. See if you can fix all of the problems YOU created there!

Well let's hope Tommy T doesn't decide to jump in as well. I challenge the Newman supporters to tell us how he is a better choice then Walker. All he has done is dodge the hard questions.

I'll assume you're using the same reasoning that cahsed walker out of the race in favor of the "unstoppable" Mark Green?

Again, Barrett and Walker will split the Milwaukee vote, Barrett will win in Madison, and Walker will trounce Barrett statewide. Barrett will be happy to remain Mayor, and avoid the (figurative) concrete shoes of the Obama/Chicago Thug machine if he hadn't run for Governor.

Lets hope the liberals don't grow a brain before the primary. By Mark staying in all it takes in the liberals of tbe state to vote Mark over Scott in hopes the strongest person is eliminated.

unfortunately the reasons for him staying in this race are purely personal. I goes back to a time he supported Scott Walker, but Scott stepped out of the race.

I used to like Mark Neumann and have supported him in past campaigns, but in addition to forcing Walker into a a costly primary campaign, he seems a little too receptive to the global warming hoax.

If ever there was a year to displace Senator Feingold this will be it. I'm surprised Neumann didn't seize that opportunity especially in light of the fact there are no big name, well funded candidates for that plum job. Next year really reminds me of the year Bob Kasten upset Senator "Earth Day".

You mean "Very Good Omen". He needs to get out of this race, the sooner the better. The stars are aligned for Walker. He is a great candidate and easily the GOP's best chance for victory in '10. For the life of me I can't understand why Neumann didn't challenge Feingold. Last I checked senator is one hell of a plum gig... Once again I request of Mr. Neumann to step aside. Won't make you a quitter, won't make you a failure (Walker stepped aside in '08), just get out already..
