HEALTHCARE UPDATE: SORRY, GRANNYBy Charlie SykesSo much for the big "savings" in Pelosicare. A plan to slash more than $500 billion from future Medicare spending — one of the biggest sources of funding for President Obama’s proposed overhaul of the nation’s health-care system — would sharply reduce benefits for some senior citizens and could jeopardize access to care for millions of others, according to a government evaluation released Saturday. Ed Morrissey comments: In other words, the warnings about the Canadianization of the American health-care system have proven correct, especially as far as Medicare enrollees are concerned. We already have a crisis in providers for the government-run network. Thanks to unrealistic compensation schedules, many providers have stopped taking new Medicare patients, forcing them to fewer providers and into longer waits for care. The CMMS study shows that the massive cuts proposed by the Pelosi plan in the House and the Reid plan coming to the Senate floor would — not surprisingly — make a bad situation worse. |

Cutting billions from Medicare funding will NOT affect quality or availability of care. That's a myth. The savings will come from elimination of waste and fraud that no one's ever been able to eliminate in the past. But that's because we've never had the right people in charge before. Barack Hussein Obama (mm-mm-mm) and Nancy Pelosi can do things ordinary people can't.

If you've ever known anyone with title 19 trying to find a dentist, you have a clue as to what we would be in for under Obamacare. It's a nightmare! The same holds true for someone newly on Medicare. The doctors willing to take new patients on medicare are few and far between.

Color me unsurprised. The Democrats lied. Again. All this "reform" is, in reality, is a massive power grab. 2,000-plus pages in which they can mandate every single aspect of your life be conducted in accordance with THEIR rules, or they'll throw you in jail. Cost means nothing; it's all about CONTROL. They want to use massive taxation to force as many as possible onto the government dole by bankrupting lower and middle class Americans through outrageous spending.

Only someone who has no grasp of economics cannot understand this. All the talk of "death panels" was silly, except to the extant that medicare would now just ignore you or if you were lucky, tell you "soory, no money for that." The gov't plan probably also would penalize doctors who do it for free or reduced cost.
