Unlike what is suggested in Chairman Lee Holloway's letter, my vetoes will not touch bus routes, pools left open or indigent burials. They will, however, address things like contracting out for housekeeping and security.
Most importantly, they will get the budget back to a no tax levy level. With the impact of the economy making it hard for so many to pay their bills, now is not the time to raise taxes.
Concerned taxpayers should call the County Board next week (its a furlough day today) at 278-4222. Ask them if they are going to stand with the AFSCME union bosses or with the taxpayers.
BW you are wrong. MPS uses more state money than internal taxes and more welfare, social services and health money from the state than any other locale in the state. your taxes pay for the sucking hole we lovingly call milwaukee.
truth a matter is that any fool knows half the county services are union-bloated waste. The board-monkeys conveniently drop that detail because they know Milwacky dudn't need union scale to cut grass at Dineen Park, etc.

But what are the board member's friends and family feeding at the pig trough of staus quo graft and nepotism? You are SCREWING these people! Lee's Auntie LaVern's Potowotmi money is on the line here, Scott! I don't think anyone but a board member's family can so expertly empties garbage cans for $50k/yr plus benefits. Don't be so shortsighted, Scott. When family and friends ride the county payroll, they earn money that they can spend at county businesses. Like KFC and the aforementioned casino.
Conservatives are often found saying what can I do? They also ask what is the conservative response to unions? THIS is one of those responses. THIS is one of the things you can do. Thanks to this blog and Scott Walker getting the word out conservatives have answer. Call the county board members. YOU are the response to the union. YOU have it in you to change the tax climate in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. Conservatives may or may not win this battle but it shows they can do something.
