FRIDAY HOT READ: MEDICALIZING MASS MURDER

By Charlie Sykes

Charles Krauthammer on the desperate effort to turn Major Nadal Hasn's terrorism into a "medical" issue.

WASHINGTON -- What a surprise -- that someone who shouts "Allahu Akbar" (the "God is great" jihadist battle cry) as he is shooting up a room of American soldiers might have Islamist motives. It certainly was a surprise to the mainstream media, which spent the weekend after the Fort Hood massacre downplaying Nidal Hasan's religious beliefs.

"I cringe that he's a Muslim. ... I think he's probably just a nut case," said Newsweek's Evan Thomas. Some were more adamant. Time's Joe Klein decried "odious attempts by Jewish extremists ... to argue that the massacre perpetrated by Nidal Hasan was somehow a direct consequence of his Islamic beliefs." While none could match Klein's peculiar cherchez-le-juif motif, the popular story line was of an Army psychiatrist driven over the edge by terrible stories he had heard from soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

They suffered. He listened. He snapped.

Really? What about the doctors and nurses, the counselors and physical therapists at Walter Reed Army Medical Center who every day hear and live with the pain and the suffering of returning soldiers? How many of them then picked up a gun and shot 51 innocents?

The press and president like to imply that anyone who would kill others like this has mental issues. If that is the case, why are any murderers sitting in prisons? Shouldn't they all be in mental institutions? After all, the media and president seem to believe that for anyone to kill someone else, they have to be crazy. I disagree. The facts - actual facts - those pesky things that libs hate - point to the obvious conclusion that Hasan is a radical Muslim terrorist. Why won't some admit it?

The muslims WON'T come knocking at their doors. They will, as before, kill innocent americans citizens. Bush said, "you've awaken a sleeping giant"... Due to P.C. that giant has gone silent.

They are checking the bullets TO SEE if the Mulim terrioest shot all these Americans! Woe to all if a stray bullet is found in another American.. THEN, will his lawyers find loop holes. Are we going to have justice for the 13 deaths? Military tribunal is our hope. Unlike the muslims who will be tried in our American court in NYC. They will be treated as citizens and cost millions. Three thousaand of OURS were killed, where is the justice? Let the circus begin. I as you why here?

Through all eternity we will carry the shame as to how our troops have been treated. WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT WE COULD HAVE ELECTED A PERSON WHO FELT LIKE THIS? I pray they know we as americans honor and respect them as no other

It's all related to the Odumbo apology tour. If we don't mention the "T" word, and make excuses for the TRAITOR, maybe those evil muslims won't give us the stink eye. Appeasers unite! (barf)

You could say anyone who commits a crime is psychologically ill because we have created that possibility in our society today. This man was a terrorist. I am not sure what it would take for some to admit the obvious. I fail to see the benefit of not seeing what it is for what it is. We have to protect our country and the citizens first. If the truth doesn't come out with this man then I am afraid we will become a more vulnerable country who will be putting itself at risk.

As I figured would happen, the left appears to have a new hero/victim in Major Hasan. After all, he only shot military personnel and it's not like the left sees military personnel as worthy human beings, just ask John Kerry.

It’s becoming more and more apparent in the Fort Hood terrorist incident and in the unconscious spending and debt, etc. that that the real “nut cases” are the neocom statist liberals. Having no common sense or survival instinct is a mental problem. Liberalism is a mental disease.

Would they be so careful if he were a Christian fundamentalist? No. It would be the lead of every story. But, being a Muslim exempts this piece of work from close inspection as to his motives. It must be the Army's fault, or Bush's fault, or my fault. The Army IS partially to blame for following PC rules and not throwing his butt out long ago.

That's the thing. I could understand if he picked up a gun and put it to his own head. That I can say is stress. But to kill 13 other people, that is not stress, that is premeditated murder.

When will Obama, the MSM and all the "politically correct" libs wake up and smell the stench of terrorism right under our noses? How many excuses for 9/11, Fort Hood, etc.? Why all the spin to diminish the increasing threat of radical Islam and the Muslims wanting to destroy the USA? Do all the sympathizers believe they will be exempt from the bloodshed?
