EPIC FAIL

By Charlie Sykes

10.2%.

Today, BLS released its monthly jobs report and the numbers speak for themselves. The economy shed another 190,000 jobs in October, bringing the number of jobs lost since Obama was sworn in to 3.8 million. Worse still, the unemployment rate rose from 9.8% to 10.2% percent. With only 130.8 million jobs in the U.S. economy, President Obama is now 7.8 million jobs short of what he promised the American people. That makes President Obama’s stimulus an objective failure.

It seems to me that President Obama's Plan should be working. You shouldn't have to Blame Bush anymore Right? President Bush should be old news, now that Your guy is in there and his plan is working

I know it's wasted effort to try to explain to you, but...It was not conservative economic policies that tanked the markets, it was the lack of them. It was government interference in the markets, led by Barney Frank & Chris Dodd. Blame Bush 'til you turn blue - it doesn't make it true. Liberals always think they can tinker with markets in the name of social justice. They ALWAYS screw them up, but they NEVER learn. Spew your vitriol - it doesn't change basic economic reality one bit.

That’s a nice thought and has been a wonderment of mine for many years, why don’t these people leave if they hate America so much but over the years I learned the answer. As much as they hate the direction America is going they realize they will ALWAYS be better off in this country. Liberals just like chaos, marches and rallies and will always find time to protest something, even when they already have everything.

Epic failure? No. Of course, conservatives (including Sykes) are following the game plan by calling everything a failure and focusing on unemployment rate. Here's the playbook: http://washingtonindependent.com/62773/lagging-economic-indicator-sets-up-2010-gop-rhetoric But unemployment is a lagging indicator and the GDP went UP in Q3 2009 a nice 3.5% annual rate. That's right economic growth UP (after Bush's failure). That's a success story for Dems even if conservatives can't admit it.

We will stop blaming Bush when conservatives admit that it was conservative economic policies (trickle down, tax preference for income from wealth over income from work, asleep at the switch non-regulation, blind faith in market risk allocation) that put capitalism in a coma in 2008. The most market driven sector -- finance -- with near perfect liquidity and (in theory) complete information, shut down, stopped, and broke in September 2008. Can you admit that? If so, I'll stop blaming Bush.

Obama is doing things to prolong the recession or even make it worse. An economic simpleton knows that his policies will not generate growth, yet he persists. I can only conclude he is inflicting the damage deliberately. Sure, Bush was President when it started, but what fiscal policy of his got through Congress in his second term?

If Chuck's listeners had any since of history and economics, they would realize the rate of employment won't rebound until well after expansion occurs. The unemployment rate in Reagan's first term didn't peak until the middle of his second year. In the early 80's consumer debt was less than total income, however after the last 30 years debt has risen 3 fold w/o any significant growth in income further dragging on consumer spending. So Reagan failed at the same point in his Presidency??
