Not exactly breaking news, I know.
Last night Esquire threw a party for Michael Moore's new documentary Capitalism: A Love Story, which all about the vulgar displays of income inequality in this country and how Americans are suffering as a result of the recession. Then according to one person who attended the premiere, this happened:
Following the Premiere, Esquire shuttles many of the attendees straight down to SoHo to the opening of The Esquire Apartment – a fully decadent penthouse where every square inch is paid for by a luxury sponsor. Hot tub, $120k pool table, $60k home theater, fine food. The only thing lacking was a doormat saying “Welcome To Capitalism.”
I had fun….But ooooh the irony. Everyone I talked to was like, “man, this is the most bizarre combination. I bet Michael Moore would freak out if he saw that this was happening.”….And then he showed up. And was eating it up. And then one of the families from the film came.

I am STILL hopeful that O'Bama will come through my mortgage. FREE HOMES TO ALL! (I THINK I heard Him say that!) In any case, I'M WAITING. The BANK now says I have to get the f*** OUT, but they just don't understand. The Sherriff's deputies are on the porch with a truck in the driveway, but THEY don't get it either. Soon, anytime now, the savior Barack, the Beta and the Omega, is coming to shoo the deputies off my porch and save me with a check in one hand and a hammer and sickle in the other.

Plus, a lot of people make money by working for Rush and Beck, and the jet-makers made money off Led Zeppelin. A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats, etc. Capitalism always works, if the Government gives it a chance.

Rush and Beck, et al., aren't hypocrites because they believe in Capitalism, and don't think it's evil to make money in service to their fellow man - I didn't begrudge Led Zeppelin, for example, because they had a huge private jet - they gave us great music - maybe not the best example, but maybe (I doubt it) you get the point

Michael Moore: Hypocrite. He makes a movie demonizing the very economic system that allowed him to make millions. If he hates capitalism, why doesn't he move to a socialist country? I see Moore made his fortune here. Why doesn't he practice what he preaches and spread his wealth around? Not by way of charitable contribution - that's evil capitalism - but by way of forced taxes. And since he's a multi-millionaire, I'm sure he won't mind a modest 65% income tax.

Agreed, except that I don't comment about MM because I "need" to, only because I find it amusing. I consider him a joke.

The only people who pay attention to Michael Moore are those on the left and those on the right. Those of us in the middle could care less. Michael Moore and his movies have had zero affect on America, haven't changed one thing other than his bank account. As long as there are fools on the left that need a feel good mement and fools on the right who need something to complain about he is set. The rest of us know he means nothing and affects nothing.

Sorry, John, feeble argument. Anyone with standards worth having sometimes falls short of them, so only the lowest of lowlifes are invulnerable to charges of "hypocrisy". In that pedantic sense we all make whatever money we make "being a hypocrite". Not all of us make our money on the hypocrisy itself, however, as Mr Moore is doing here: making money on the condemnation of money-making. I cannot help but think he laughs at those who still defend him. Is there ANYTHING he couldn't make them eat?

John H. perhaps does not understand. Moore is a hypocrite, not because he is making money like Beck and Will, but rather precisely because his making money is by telling the rest of us not to do the way he is doing it. In fact he is telling us to shut up and live like paupers so the he can live large.

Just like in the old USSR. The leadership lived like royalty with summer palaces and all of the trappings. The finest food, clothing, servants, and everything. Moore fits the template: "The little people must change and do with less. Not fat old me." BTW, ever notice how fat most of the Soviet leadership was?

Michael Moore, talk show hosts, pundits, politicians, editorial writers, preachers, churches, businesses, welfare recipients are in it for the money. Thats what we do, try to accumulate money. You think if Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck wouldn't be making the big bucks they would do it for free. Michael Kinsey, Maureen Dowd, Thomas Friedman, along with George Will are in it for the money. If you can make money being a hypocrite you are still maiking money which is what we do. No big deal.

Moore is part of the liberal elite class. The evils of capitalism and unequal wealth distribution are only pertinent to the peasants. None of this applies to the royalty class of which Moore belongs. Its really that simple and that obvious to anyone who uses their brain. People that continue to fall for it are fools.

To be liberal is to be a raging hypocrite. Been sayin that for years... I think his films are purely comedy... he's just not credible enough to call them propaganda... To me it's like, look at this idiot, he thinks people are buying this...! The Sicko thing was flat out hilarious... I watched b/c it was on HBO... Essentially the film's conclusion was that everyone and anyone should get all and any type of first rate health care for free... anything... f-ing free for life

I've decided to take Moore up on his point and not see the film (and therefore he won't see any of my money).
