TUESDAY HOT READ: ECONOMIC ILLITERATE IN CHIEFBy Charlie SykesFred Barnes asks a question that I've been wondering about, especially since Obama's presser last week: Is President Obama an economic illiterate? Harsh as that sounds, there's growing evidence he understands little about economics and even less about economic growth or job creation. Yet, as we saw at last week's presidential press conference, he's undeterred from holding forth, with seeming confidence, on economic issues. Obama professes to believe in free market economics. But no one expects his policies to reflect the unfettered capitalism of a Milton Friedman. That's too much to ask. Demonstrating a passing acquaintance with free market ideas and how they might be used to fight the recession--that's not too much to ask. But the president talks as if free market solutions are nonexistent, and in his mind they may be. |

People stop trying to learn when they feel they've mastered the subject. Our Dear Leader has a complete understanding of economics he got from Marx and Engels, of science from Al Gore, of Heathcare from Margaret Sanger, and of religion and ethics from Jeremiah Wright. His knowledge is complete; it's we who are benighted. Fortunately we have the Great Teacher to lecture us through the "teachable moments". Anybody remember "Clinton fatigue"? It's gonna be a long four years.

"So do you guys have a problem with race, class or educational achievement?" No, he has achieved an American Dream. But, we really don't know about his educational achievements, since he refuses to release all his records. Employers ask for samples of work and proof of educational achievements -- does that make them all racists or sexists? Of course not. We're BO's employer, and we're asking for the same things. This isn't that difficult of a concept to grasp.

Anonymous-san, very nice try using "If I hum loud enough, all evil conservative will vanish" technique. Even if done right, will have no effect on evil conservative. They too smart, see too much. You much better off not humming, but listening.

It keeps coming back to this, but the worst aspect of Obama is he doesn't even understand what he doesn't know. As a matter of fact he believes he does. A first year econ 101 student should know more.

The depth of his economic understanding is that of a big city community organizer. That may sound harsh to our Obama lovers, but I have no doubt Barnes was somewhat generous in his assessment of Obama's economic understanding. It is non-existent. It doesn't say much for the American people that they couldn't see through this empty suit con man. It really wasn't that difficult to see prior to the election.

"So do you guys have a problem with race, class or educational achievement?" Since we're not worshiping the water obama walks on, that would make us all racists, wouldn't it? I think that's the proper narrative: If you don't love obama, you're a racist.

Remember that this president was also a legacy admit at two Ivy league schools, was staked by friends to three energy related concerns all which failed, made the bulk of his fortune at the expense of the taxpayers who built him a stadium, never took advantage to travel anywhere in the world, and was mostly a drunken wastrel for his first 40 years of life. Maybe I have my facts wrong.

In the liberal mindset money & expense are a minor issue-it's all about maintaining control, even after they are out of power. The idea is all the money will be spent, thereby rendering the right-wing impotent. The new leadership will then have to undo all the entitlement spending & APPEAR to be the "Repressive Party Of No"again, even though the original spending was on pork-barrel items that helped no one except the lefty campaign contributors owed favors.

Charlie, all this makes perfect sense if you view it through this prism: he is doing these things ON PURPOSE. You either have to believe 1)he is stupid or 2)these are purposeful actions taken to destroy the US economy so he can rebuild it into his socialist utopia. No other explanation makes sense.

Economics: Just one of many things Obama is ignorant about. Proof that being a community organizer(rabble rouser) does not prepare you to be POTUS.He just wants everything to be "Fair". I think he's just a very angry anti-white bigot.Take a good look at who he surrounds himself with. Wright,Ayers,Resko,Gates.... At least Bill Clinton had friends from all races (his best friend is Vernon Jordan) and understood all areas of American life.

Obama has his Marxist economic and social theories and absolute certainty he's right, regardless of history or reality. Just like Lenin. It can't happen here? Why not?

We are dealing with a narcissist; self-love, importance of abilities, superior beyond all others. There is no reasoning, no compromise. He is right. There is no other point of view. There is no discussion; KLM is correct "his way or the highway". On top of the disorder, he has an attitude problem.

He continues to prove how elitist and arrogant he is. It also keeps showing that being a "community organizer" doesn't prepare one for business, and least of all the POTUS.

What we are experiencing, IMHO, is the ascension of the least intellectually curious president in history. The man has no intention of paying heed to ideas that aren't his own and which are developed without the critical analysis of opposing views. In short, he is the most dangerous of leader: A man of leadership who is unintelligent and intends to stay that way.

This man is even more "scorched earth" minded than the Clintons were. I think the last line of that article is the truth. It's his way or the highway especially with a supermajority in the Congress. Charlie, play that clip from Tony Blair where he speaks of the 9/11 attacks (paraphrasing) "there is no compromise with such people, no point of understanding." The president has no intention of what is doing best for all, just for the few. This type of government has never worked. Never will.
