KRISTOL: KILL IT, START OVER

By Charlie Sykes

Bill Kristol smells blood in the water.

With Obamacare on the ropes, there will be a temptation for opponents to let up on their criticism, and to try to appear constructive, or at least responsible. There will be a tendency to want to let the Democrats' plans sink of their own weight, to emphasize that the critics have been pushing sound reform ideas all along and suggest it's not too late for a bipartisan compromise over the next couple of weeks or months.

My advice, for what it's worth: Resist the temptation. This is no time to pull punches. Go for the kill.

Canadians come to the US for treatment and Americans go to Canada for cheaper medicine. Could it be that Canada limits certain treatments? Exp: heart transplant at 75 yrs old, or treatment won't cure the illness, etc.? Putting a good organ in a senior citizen doesn't make sense nor is it wise use of money. In America senior citizens go to Canada for cheaper drugs. Drug companies in this country rape us but charge less overseas. Who's subsidizing who?

After hearing Mr. Kristol, I agree; KILL IT! HR3200 is an ignorant attempt to produce a useless bill and cram it down our throats. Health Care needs to be addressed but not in this manner.

We also have a high homicide rate among certain "population groups" in our country which other countries don't have to deal with, hence our slightly lower longevity rate

If life expectancy is such a key to health it's an easy statistic to improve - just do more abortions in the demographics Justice Ginsburg calls "populations that we don't want to have too many of". Good idea, PPP? Feel healthier everyone?

Life expectancy is a very poor indicator of the healthcare system. Infant mortality is higher here because we count preemies as live births. Life expectancy also includes car accidents and other un-natural deaths. It is also affected by our sedentary lifestyles that cause obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc. What you fail to mention is how that same WHO measures the US at number one in cancer survival rates and responsiveness to patient needs. Oh my, gotta get rid of those don't we!

The USA is where I live, Maddog, and we currently have the 17th best health care system in the world. For longevity, as well as healthy longevity, Canadians beat us by more than two years. So do the Swiss and French. We're somewhere down there around Russia. How do you like our system, now?

What in the hell country do YOU live in? We have THE best health care system in the world. The reason everything is so damn expensive is because of loser liberals and moochers who use the system but never pay anything into it (ie: ILLEGAL ALIENS & people who believe health care is a right. It is not and never will be.) Ask yourself this if the plan is sooooooo good...then why are the politicians going to exempt themselves from it? Answer: Because the plan sucks period.

CK, our health care system IS NOT THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Please kindly check on World Health Organization statistics before you continue believing that GOP lie. We are currently ranked seventeenth. Are you proud to be ranked 17th? We are supposedly the wealthiest nation in the world, and the best we can manage is 17th? Don't you find that absolutely pathetic?

Of course the GOP wants to kill reform. They have to maintain their relationship with their sugar daddy, health insurance lobbyists. The GOP only wants a status quo. They say they want competition, they say government health care would be unwieldy and too expensive, and in the same breath, they then say that private health insurers couldn't compete with that. So...what are they really saying about private insurers? Huh, Charlie? Health insurers: "We help more people than we hurt, or not."

That's the GOP's m.o. They bring a squirt gun to a forest fire and turn their backs on the zombie before they know for sure it's "dead". Palin, Romney, or whoever is our last, best chance to stop this madness get on FOX or blog your butts off. There are small factions out there that only need one unifying figure and you would see revolt turn from a ripple to a tidal wave. Time to get out of the foxholes, America. CHARGE!!!

Tort reform..we need to stop the multi-million dollar awards that drive up the cost of malpractice insurance. Compassion is fine but it can be carried too far.

I agree it is time to restart health care reform. There are serious problems with our current system for people and businesses. However, the government controlling the health care system (Obama will say this is not the case)is not the solution. Let's remember our health care system is the best in the world (even with it's problems). Let's use logic to chip away at the problems - not destroy a system most people are actually satisifed with overall.

Glenn you can yell it from the mountain tops but the crop of candidates the Republicans produce don't seem to have the gonads to do it. Well, except Sarah Palin (minus the gonads part of course). OK, I said the 'P' word, now watch the lefties swarm.

That's been the Republicans' problem for a long time, and it's why we have Obama now. Republicans don't know how to fight. There is a similarity between lefties and street thugs. Both try to intimidate others by ganging up to get what they want. Conservatives need to group up themselves and are doing so in Tea Parties across the country. Now they need to use the Saul Alinsky rules against the lefties, and when you have your opponent down don't reach out to help him up. Finish him off.
