Sen. Daniel K. Inouye's staff contacted federal regulators last fall to ask about the bailout application of an ailing Hawaii bank that he had helped to establish and where he has invested the bulk of his personal wealth. The bank, Central Pacific Financial, was an unlikely candidate for a program designed by the Treasury Department to bolster healthy banks. The firm's losses were depleting its capital reserves. Its primary regulator, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., already had decided that it didn't meet the criteria for receiving a favorable recommendation and had forwarded the application to a council that reviewed marginal cases, according to agency documents. Two weeks after the inquiry from Inouye's office, Central Pacific announced that the Treasury would inject $135 million.

There is a difference between Democratic and Republican scandals. Usually the Republican resigns. Not the Democrats. The other difference is the media treatment and talk about "culture of corruption".

The real scandal isn't even being discussed. Fannie and Freddie and all the money that channeled to Democrats such as Obama, Frank and Dodd while they provided "protection" for them from evil Republicans that wanted to enforce tougher regulations.

For me the Clinton "sex" scandal wasn't about the sex it was about sexual harassment of an intern. He was the boss, she worked for him they had "sex." Then Clinton lied about it, he is guilty on both counts.

We have terms, but not term LIMITS. The Pres only gets 2 terms (2 term limit.) Everyone else can be re-elected indefinitely. They should be allowed 3 terms for Senate, 4 for House. If they can't accomplish their goals in that time, too bad, so sad.

We have term limits in congress. I believe the limits are 2 years for the House and 6 years for the Senate. Unfortunately, "we" keep reelecting these idiots.

Also - Don't get me wrong, Clinton's affair, lies, cover-up, etc. was a dark time in American history. But you Republicans need to either stop throwing rocks or move out of your glass houses if you want to keep labeling ONLY the Dems as "unethical".
