DEEP CUTS?By Charlie SykesSavvy listener emails:
Odd how the self proclaimed Dem budget hawks found money for: ** Meanwhile Senatyor Glenn Grothman is suggesting that Demns might put off their golf outing today so we could actually have some votes in the light of day. Fat chance.
Madison: Senator Glenn Grothman called upon Senate Democrats to delay their golfing fundraiser scheduled for tomorrow in Lake Geneva so that they are able to pass the most significant parts of their budget at a time when the public can have at least 12 hours to review it. A summary of omnibus draft was not available to the general public until 1 p.m. this afternoon and the actual language I could not get until 5 p.m. “It is very frustrating to hear representatives of the most affected groups in the state as well as legislators not knowing or understanding what the language is in the most significant budget provisions being proposed,” said Grothman. “I realize this golf fundraiser was probably planned months ago, but I personally would like to know more about the effect of removing the QEO half-way through a two-year contract cycle, the details of the mental health coverages, the cost to local districts of providing transportation for pregnant high schoolers, as well as other costly provisions.” “You are in the majority, and I’m sure the lobbyists will be more than glad to give you money next week, but the damage various costly provisions being passed on the Thursday night before the golf outing may be permanent. I’m sure most of these lobbyists would prefer to know what you are voting on to going golfing anyway,” said Grothman. “Please re-schedule this vote for next week when you have time to familiarize yourself with the budget policies on which you are voting and the consequences thereof.” |

Hey dumbcat...Just because some people have common sense, does not make them GOP hardliners. In fact, I am pretty sick of the GOP and their BS....It just is the lesser evil.

Why should I differ from opinions I myself share. I want what every conservative wants...to be left alone by the government. I want to keep the money I earn. I have no problem helping those in need. But I would like proof that they need help because there are too many lazy bums collecting unearned monies that I and (all taxpayers) have to shell out. I used to be a dem just like you. But I started paying real close attention and the libs come up as the biggest liars consistently.

Hey Bigcat - I just can't get over how much time you spend telling the GOP what it should do. I'm sure you're looking out for the best interests of the Republican party but you should be able to imagine why the Republicans might just be a wee bit skeptical of your "advice." Maybe you should spend a little more time trying to actually defend your arguments and less time telling the Republicans how they should run their ship.

Sometimes I differ with Charlie, but not often, because we share the same core values - Freedom from excessive taxation and regulation, being among those core values. Also, in general, FREEDOM, FREEDOM, FREEDOM!!

When I was in high school, pregnant girls wouldn't be allowed in school, as they would set a bad example. Now they get Special Transportation???

maddog, there are plenty of self proclaimed "dittoheads" on the right who swallow the gospel of their talk show entertainers hook, line, and sinker. Your loyal opposition may have some nuanced individuality maddog...it's hard to tell b/c all I ever see is you defending Charlie and his threads. Where do you differ? I would love to see some fiscal conservatism return to both parties. I would like to see some tarp money returned. How do you differ in any way from the talking points of Charlie?

Paul, No....Charlie just told you and the rest of the GOP hardliners how to vote and you lined right up to follow your leader. Again, the more Charlie and MArk preach to the masses their sermon of extremism, the narrower and smaller the GOP base in Wisconsin becomes. Has anyone noticed how this stste has drifted decidely blue over the last 10 years? I guess it is all those evil unions.

Hey BIGCAT....Charlie did not vote Mary out of office, the voters(myself included)did, because we had a chance to stop the insane spending and she refused to go along. Mary was a RHINO. She was no GOP leader. Get you facts straight.

I have it on good authority that Doyle is cutting state spending across the board, freezing wages, furloughing workers, and laying off state employees. You must be mistaken.

If I remember correctly, it was politicians who told us that using our tax dollars to pay for contraception, and publicly funded family planning clinics would avoid this problem. But now those politicians feel that if a student doesn't use their taxpayer funded contraception, they should have access to taxpayer funded transportation to and from school? And this isn't about the "Big 'Ole Mean Republicans" Bigcat. It's about using taxpayer dollars as a replacement for personal responsibility.

Free rides for baby mommas? Why not free neutering for baby daddies instead?

Has there been an upswing in pregnancy complications because someone had to walk to school? Why, all of a sudden, is it an urgent need that the tax payers need to bear? WTF! (Sorry to be rude, sort of)

I don't feel rides for pregnant students are OK. Pregnancy is not an illness, and exercise is good for you. What's wrong with the bus? Or baby daddy? Or girlfriend? Or parent? NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY!!

OK BIG CAT, Rides for pregnant students may be fine, but only if the local district decides to do that. The STATE should not be dictating such policy. You don't understand. GOVERNMENT does NOT create wealth, it only takes from those who have (worked for it) and gives to those who don't. An individual is best to decide what to do with his own money.

Nice job Glenn, I am glad to see that you can effectively take dictation from Charlie when he tells you which political opportunities to seize upon. After all, he got you elected in an all out assault on Mary Panzer when she wouldn't shill for your TABOR legislation. Attacking one of the leading GOP women in the state has really helped you broaden the base hasn't it? And speaking of a kinder and gentler GOP, how about the call to eliminate transport for pregnant teens?Prolife but anti-mom=GOP

There's very little about this budget or how it was done that I like. That said, is Grothman naive or is this just PR: "I’m sure most of these lobbyists would prefer to know what you are voting on to going golfing anyway." Most of these lobbyists know exactly what they are voting on because either: they wrote themselves, they were heavily involved in the process, the know they have them on a leash and trust the legislators wouldn't put anything in the budget that their masters don't like.

No, No, No. Sorry the Dems are in charge now. Your input is appreciated, but not really wanted. Please shut up and go away. We know what is best (for our party). We rule by making everyone dependent on the Democratic Party and ourselves. We only care about staying in power so that we can control you life and that you will have to vote for us. We are the center of all things. Soon, we will be holding court and you will have to come to our throne for your needs and wants.
