UPDATE: ACORN! ACORN!

By Charlie Sykes

Today, right here in our backyard... McCain talks about ACORN and voter fraud.

More highlights from today's Waukesha visit here.

Waukesha, Wisconsin -- One of the highlights of the McCain-Palin rally here today came when Scott Southworth, an Iraq War veteran from Mauston, Wisconsin, stood and told McCain that he was personally offended by Barack Obama's suggestion, recently amplified by the McCain campaign, that the US military was just bombing civilians in Afghanistan. The most important issue, Southworth said to loud applause, remained winning the war on terror. Southworth then introduced his son, A'laa, who was sitting in his wheelchair next to his father and who, he said, had been brought to the US from Iraq.

McCain asked Southworth to tell the story of the adoption and Southworth explained that he adopted A'laa from the Mother Theresa orphanage in Baghdad after he learned that A'laa was to be transferred to a state-run facility, which Southworth believed would be unsafe. As he told the story, several women in the audience wiped away tears. It was, for the audience at least, a powerful moment.

And here.

UPDATE: The next question came from a black McCain supporter, who reminded McCain of the candidate's plea at the convention for his supporters to do everything possible to ensure a victory. The supporter said: "I doubt that anyone has taken, pardon me, the ass-whoopin' I have taken for doing that." He then implored McCain to go after Barack Obama at the next debate and asked him to raise ACORN and Reverend Wright. "I am begging you, sir," he said, as the crowd stood and applauded.

UPDATE:

Hi Charlie,

You know that “black supporter” you mentioned in your blog post was James T. Harris, right?  OMG, he brought down the house.  Someone should give that man a talk show!  The man I was sitting with during the event said when James fills in for Wagner, he can’t turn it off.  He’s just. That. Good.

Regards,

Wendy

NBC takes note:

A local African-American conservative talk radio host named James T. Harris also brought up what he called Obama’s “soft spot,” which he said included “ACORN,” “the good Rev.Wright,” and other “shady characters that have surrounded him.”

“I am begging you, sir," Harris said. "I am begging you. Take it to him.”

Did the far left loons that post here just blame McCain for Wisconsin not "looking like America". Well I guess I'm sorry that our state doesn't meet your standards of minorities, I guess that minorities just don't like the 10 feet of snow a year freezing cold weather and only 2 days of 90 degrees, and shoveling out every other day for 6 months. (That last part was a joke, if you didn't get it.)

More than gloves are coming off in John McCain's party. The mask is off and the smirk you see is a grin of death. Those of us who lived through Nazi Germany or had relatives understand the danger. Americans need to take the early signs seriously. The hatred and war mongering stirred up feeds on itself and will not end with the election. John McCain may not be the next Hitler, but he is helping make way for one. What will they chant tomorrow, Kill, baby, kill?

Forget this petty poop. Joe Stalin said, "The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything." Check out www.blackboxvoting.org and see that whoever controls the voting machines, vertical integration of vote tabulation, and recounts... controls everything. The NeoCons don't care about real conservatives. They only care about themselves, money and power. Socialism for the rich, and if you ain't rich... it's dog-eat-dog in the marketplace for you!

As long as we're doing it, what about the Pres. candidate married to the drug addict? You know, the one who used a "non-profit" organization to get illegal prescriptions to feed her drug habit. Or the VP candidate married to the one who belonged to the political group whose leader said things like: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government." and "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." Country first?

Hey, truthman! I recall the Obama campaign removing obviously Muslim women from standing behind him at a Detroit rally in the past couple of months. The Obama campaign is racist and nobody in the MSM notices? If OBama wins, any criticism of him will be considered racist. Oh, wait, I guess it is now.

James rocks. I was at the Waukesha rally and was seated behind him with my wife and children and heard his courage and passion. He is our new hero for asking McCain to raise high the ACORN issue (never heard that from the Mainstream media) -- it's not just a political issue. ACORN is an American issue. Keep speaking clearly James -- we'll listen to WTMJ because of you.

WI in the spotlight and all we see are vestigages of Joe McCarthy. An ugly event that only contributes to the shrinking of the GOP. These people frighten anyone with an historical perspective. I understand the anger but it's misplaced at best and appallingly ignorant at its worst. Yes the daddy party has let us all down and left it to the next Pres. to fix, and the fixes will be painful and unfortunately borne on the backs of the middle and lower. classes

I am Native, but I prefer Indian. As Sherman Alexie said "Indians call themselves Indians, Native Americans is a guilty white liberal thing". Ok, back to the subject. I am 100% behind McCain/Palin. Why is it every time the polls seem to tighten, race is introduced into the discussion? Are we only racist when McCain gains momentum? Is there no racism when over 90% of the black community supports Obama regardless of his record and associations? Don't you dare throw the race card at me.

"That event did not look like America to me. No black, hispanic, native people to be found." - With the event being held in WAUKESHA COUNTY with only 4.23% minority population, perhaps that is why you did not see the rainbow of society at that event. STOP turning this into a race issue.

"People will see their 401k and savings decrease". Why are you bringing up the economy when all anyone really cares about is Bill Ayers? Hey, Bill Ayers, now THAT'S what I am worried about. Not my children's college fund or my retirement, my home value, gas prices or feeding my family. Get a clue truthman, conservatives are right on with the issues. AYERS, AYERS, AYERS, and his non-criminal, insignificant association with Obama. McCain/Palin have no questionable associates (Ha-Ha).

So why has the video of James T Harris been pulled? I had hoped to show it to people who had not seen it. Is TMJ afraid of negative associations with their host (my neighbor) and why wouldn't they be proud to keep this posted here?

I was hoping that McCain would point out that Obama is a FIB. A LIB FIB! You don't want to vote for a FIB, do you? That would guarantee a McCain victory in Wisconsin.

No black, hispanic, native people to be found. So much for the big tent. Take a look at the next Biden or Obama event. Blacks, Whites, Hispanic, Native people. Why were there only whites at the event??? My husband is Native American and a big McCain supporter. Why wasn't he there? Because he doesn't want to put up with the absolute nutty hatred from Obama lovers. Look at James T. Harris' blog comments. They are disgusting and a taste of what it's like to "come out" as a minority for McCain.

A Republican Mob Scene JOHN MCCAIN'S SUPPORTERS ARE MADDER (AND SCARIER!) THAN HE IS. WOW, after looking at the ANGER and HATE in the videos it's no wonder he's going to lose. The base does not need anymore of a wake up, you already have the scary white people. You need to energize the folks who again today will see their 401k's and savings decrease. But wait, that will never happen, because it's all Bill Ayers all the time. Don't think they give a damn about Mainstreet. They are sooo done.

Charlie, I'm shocked, after railing against Sara Palin's "mission from God" statement taken out of context, why aren't you leading the charge on Southworth's inaccuracy? Obama stated after a lengthy call to increase troop levels in Afg. (same call made by Gates two days ago) "And that requires us to have enough troops that we're not just air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there." Military itself says it has killed more civs than insurgents have

I watched most of the McCain-Palin rally today and was very happy to see McCain respond the way he did to the crowd and those speakers who were calling for him to fight. I really believe this rally in Waukesha will be seen as the turning point in his campaign. Those in the audience who spoke are representative of the real Americans in this country who are fed up with those radical/socialist members of my generation who are trying to do now what they failed to do back in the 60s and early 70s.

Where are the Feds? Why is ACORN not being shut down from funding and being thoroughly investigated? The Obama campaign payed at least $800K to ACORN to register new voters, but Barry and Biden have the unmitigated gall to call the McCain campaign dirty! I guess somehow Obama is entitled to perpetrate fraud and cheat in order to win. Maybe we'll get the "This is not the ACORN I knew" crapola from Barry. It's getting awful crowded under that bus.

This talk of Acorn is nothing more than racism and intimidation intended to keep the dead from voting. If these vicious rethuglican attacks on acorn are not stopped, some scared democrats may only vote ONCE this election!!! Where is the justice in that????
