THURSDAY HOT READ: SHE CAN"T GET PAST IT

By Charlie Sykes

Hillary seems to be channelling Brett Favre these days.

But as Clinton took questions from the 150 or so people who had paid $500 and up a head to listen, it became clear that the healing process was far from over. "For so many of my supporters, just like so many of Barack's supporters, this was a first-time investment of heart and soul and money and effort and sleepless nights and miles of travel," Clinton said. "You just don't turn it off like that."

Those comments — now playing in clips on YouTube—speak to not only the bruised feelings of Clinton's many supporters. Embedded in those remarks, say friends and advisers, are hints of Clinton's own feelings in the aftermath of a race in which she fought so hard and still fell short. ...

But behind the united front, says an adviser, "it's not a great relationship, and it's probably not going to become one." In private conversations, associates say, Clinton remains skeptical that Obama can win in the fall. That's a sentiment some other Democrats believe is not just a prediction but a wish, because it would prove her right about his weaknesses as a general-election candidate and possibly pave the way for her to run again in 2012. Clinton is also annoyed that Obama has yet to deliver on his end of an informal bargain, reached as part of their truce, that each would raise $500,000 for the other. "Hillary has done her part in that regard," says an adviser. "Obama has not."

for Dang Old Man: Don't take off the tin-foil hat or we will turn you into a zombie. Regarding your Solzhentisyn post, Yes, we have a camera in your house - can you find it? By the way, I think I've read just about everything by Solzhenitsyn - to compare what's going on here to the Gulags of the Soviet Union is ludicrous. How many American citizens have been imprisoned and tortured illegally, much less executed? Don't forget, I'm watching you...

More pro-wrestling style fakery. Look over here. Be upset about this. We're taking your wallet and your Constitutional rights while you're all worked up over fluff. HAHaHaHa!

I think Hillary will do something at the Democratic Convention to help totally derail Obama. America knows the Clintons. They are out for revenge and Obama is the target.

I agree with you Robert that Obama is the LIBERAL’S affirmative action candidate and isn’t that sad that they couldn’t even find a candidate who is patriotic enough, loyal enough, experienced enough or even smart enough to represent their liberal ideology. This reminds me so much of Iran. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is only a presidential figurehead for the religious Mullah’s of Iran who tells him what to say and do. You can see now why liberalism is hazardous to democracy.

When was the last time the Democratic party had a good, honorable, decent candidate? I am still mystified about this talk of Democratic dominance when the types of candidates they've been putting up for President are so abysmal. You listen to people like Evan Baye talk about Obama and I swear I see his nose growing. So, where are the great Democratic leaders? John Edwards? Ooops, never mind. Joe Lieberman? Oh, that's right he got kicked out of the party.

It,s clear that Hillary, like Geraldine Ferraro, is intelligent enough to understand that Obama is the affirmative action candidate...and nothing more.

The final rantings of a desperation-tainted power grab that someone isn't ready to admit has failed. It will get worse before it gets better. "We ain't seen nothin' yet"-just wait for Denver.

The Clinton's had to think that Hillary was the heir apparent to the presidency. After all, she was able to use her position as first lady to be flown back and forth at tax payer expense, complete with secret service protection, to become the Junior Senator from a state she didn't live in. Then she furnished her multi-million dollar house, financed by somebody else, with looted items from the White House and AF1. How then could she be denied the job she's been running for since 1992?
