Could this actually be signs of a pulse from the congressional GOP? They'll be continuing their protest of Democratic obstructionism again today, apparently inspired by The One's latest flop.
Washington, Aug 3 - House Republicans will be back on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives again Monday to continue the unprecedented protest that began last Friday, when dozens of Republicans joined hundreds of American citizens on the House floor to protest Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) decision to send Congress home for the rest of the summer without a vote on legislation to lower gas prices and move America toward energy independence.

Oil Companies don't want leases with no oil. You can't leverage something like that into market money. The 1200 leases are all areas that have been explored for oil, often using government funds, and if not directly, written off on oil company taxes. Those 1200 oil drilling leases exist because there is knowledge of oil. At $120-140 per bbl, there are thousands of capped wells in the US that could and will be profitably put back into pumping.

RxFire, you’re wasting your time trying to make sense of Steverino’s posts. I think first off that we need to rejoice in his ramblings because it proves that the liberal ideology has reached the point of diminishing returns. Other than that I love it when he chimes in on this site as he makes the other moronic posts from Andrew, Bill, Big Cat and the other liberals almost make sense.

Wow.... Steve. What an imagination you have there... LOL You do understand that most of those leases do not have oil on them? The point is to drill where there is oil. And I think it is safe to say that there is not oil in my backyard. Dangit.... IF there was I WOULD DRILL for it.

Better not let any oil go undrilled for, even if they already over 1200 leases. You better dig in your back yard, or else! If you arent' helping Exxon to make 12 billion and MORE next quarter, why, then you're NOT a good corporate serf, er, I mean NOT a good American. No place is sacred. All must be drilled. All hail our masters, the multinational oil companies!!

The House Republicans need praise and reinforcement. We need to contact them, call their offices, fax or e-mail them and let them know that they need to continue the fight. It wouldn't hurt to put pressure on the Democrats also.

Does the President have any kind of power to bypass the speaker of the house and get things rolling regarding drilling in the U.S.
