Barack Obama is a busy man, who didn't have time to visit wounded soldiers at military bases in Germany.... too busy holding a campaign rally for cheering Germans.
The message here is that thousands of screaming German fans at the Tiergarten take precedence over visiting Americans serving their country at Rammstein and Landstuhl. Maybe one of the networks following Obama could interview a few of the soldiers about how they perceive that set of priorities from Obama...

According to Jake Tapper, the problem wasn’t scheduling at all:
"Obama noted that in a break from his whirlwind schedule, “we’ve got some down time tonight. What are you guys gonna do in Berlin? Huh? Huh? You guys got any big. plans? …I’ve never been to Berlin, so…I would love to tour around a little bit.”
Obama canceled a previously-planned stop to visit thousands of American service personnel, including troops wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan being treated at Landstuhl, so he could hold a political rally for Germans and go shopping in Berlin. Now that’s a nice set of priorities for a man who wants to become Commander in Chief.

Powerline was less than impressed with the Messiah's speech in Berlin.
In his sermon to the Germans, Barack Obama presents himself both as Barack the Baptist and the Obamessiah. Nevertheless, Americans naturally root for for the underdog to prevail. For pride to take a fall. Don't we naturally seek to puncture the grandiose pretensions of a blowhard? It seems to me that this is the question that Obama's speech elicits.
And one more question. I wonder if Americans will appreciate Obama's deprecation of the United States on foreign soil for his own self-aggrandizing purposes. Surely one does not need to be a conservative Republican to recoil from this display.

The Pentagon asked him not to visit because they didn't want the soldiers used for political purposes. Obama did visit privately.

Ashamed to have a presidential candidate not take the time or honor to be with true American heroes. I guess not serving in the US Armed Forces does not carry much weight when it comes to patriotism, according to Obama. This sounds very familiar to the Clinton years, the disrespect they gave to our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen. But I am sure most Americans do not care where Obama stands…patriotism, just words…

President Bush regularly visits wounded troops as they recover from their war-related injuries. We never hear about it because he doesn't use them to score political points. There was NOTHING, except Obama's narcissism, that would have kept him from having an off-camera visit with the wounded in Germany. Why didn't he go? Because he couldn't use them to score political points.

That's kinda the point Kevo.... Since Obama could not use the trip as a photo-op he decided it wasn't worth his time to visit our wounded soldiers. IF he truely cared about our soldiers don't you think he would have stopped in and thanked them? The only conclusion I can come up with is that he basically doesn't care about our soldiers.

Sorry to burst your bubble (from TPM): A Pentagon spokesperson confirms to me that because of longstanding Department of Defense regulations, Pentagon officials told Obama aides that he couldn't visit the base with campaign staff. This left Obama with little choice but to cancel the trip, since the plan to visit with campaign aides had been in the works for weeks. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/07/pentagon_confirms_that_it_told.php

The above story about Obama not going to visit the wounded gave credence to the above letter from Afganistan. I did seem to have a ring of truth but According to Snopes it is not true. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/afghanistan.asp

Thanks Bill for the update, Obama is NO a Bob Hope that’s for sure. If it’s any consolation to you it appears that the more this moron speaks the lower his poll numbers go. The people he has hired to do his research, write his speeches, prep him for big events and make important decisions for him don’t seem to have a fully functioning brain between them. In 1980 Reagan won 489 electoral votes to Carter’s 49. If Obama keeps giving the GOP ammo he could turn the US map totally BLUE.

Thanks for the truth, Bill. Who would have ever known otherwise. Lib, right on target. I wonder if he "landed under fire" too, like Hillary. Let's ask the MSM entourage what they saw.

no cameras = no messiah. Am I wrong, or does that Obama guy seem like a real jerk?

Cont: Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country. If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake

Cont: a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you. I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our

Cont: at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service. So really he was just here to make

He is holding true to form. This is an eye witness report on his visit to Afganistan and his treatment of the troops there: Hello everyone, As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone". I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at
