Critics of proposals to drill for American oil complain that it will take too long to make a difference... But Factcheck.org looks at Obama's "fast-track" solution...
Obama released a national ad saying he has "fast-track alternatives" to imported oil. On closer examination, those turn out to be his proposal to spend $150 billion over the coming decade on energy research. Ten years doesn't sound all that "fast" to us, and there's no guarantee that the research will result in less oil being imported.

And by the way, did you happen to notice the OTHER statements on FactCheck.org? Like "McCain has repeatedly claimed that Obama would raise tax rates for 23 million small-business owners. It's a false and preposterously inflated figure." [July 14, 2008 post] or The false claim by the Republican National Committee ad [July 9, 2008 post] Or worse, the swiftboating lies already coming from the phoney "Vets for Freedom" [July 18, 2008 post]

Hey, conservatives, you've lost the debate on gloabl warming. You've lost the scientific debate. You've lost the debate in the voting public's mind. You can keep calling global warming a myth (speaking of drinking the Kool-Aid!), but you have lost the debate everywhere but talk radio. That it will take 10 years to "fast track" alternatives is true. T Boone Pickens -- a Texan with oil in his veins -- gets it. Is he drinking the Kool-Aid? Supply side trickle down failed. Admit it!

Obama can't even get ethanol right. His biofuel of choice will miss the modest 2008 EPA production goals and 75% of the current ethanol plants are being mothballed. And we're supposed to believe they can go 0 to 100% in 10 years?

Isn't it funny, the same people who are presently saying it will take 10 years are the same people who opposed increased domestic drilling 5 years ago, 8 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago, etc? Just how long do they think it will take for unproven, alternative sources? Do these people not understand how ignorant they sound?

More Kool-Aid laced lefty-crap-crap! Did Obama sell used cars in the past? I can't wait 'til Jan. 21st. But will the cheap-sell tactics end then-stay tuned!

In the world of politics, ten years is like tomorrow. You have to remember, these people don't work on the same timeline that you and I do. We aren't calling the last two congresses "do-nothing" for nothing. We've known about the Social Security problem for twenty years or more, and we're still at the "study" stage. I wonder what would occur if for two months, we replaced congress and senate with High School seniors. How fast would drilling commence? Would Social Security be solved?

Obama can say anything he wants and get away with it. The national media will never call him on it, and anyone else that does will be labeled "racist".
