John McAdams is tracking the bile and hate from "progressive" commenters.
Tony Snow, former White House Press Secretary and Fox News journalist dies, and how do the folks in the leftist blogosphere react?
With all the venom one might expect.

But I'm starting to wonder whether this curmudgeon might have a point. Does the coverage of one story obscure everything else in the world? This was Charlie's tolerant and sensitive blog post after the death of journalist and MSNBC giant Tim Russert on JUne 17th. Instead of respectfully noting the passing of great man, Charlie allows the comments of truly tastless and shallow conservatives to fill the blogosphere with their crass whinig over too much media coverage. Hypocrisy anyone?

It amazes me still (and it shouldn't anymore) at how many people on the left truly believe the right is out to kill people, create pollution, and take over the world. One posting praising Mr. Snow's death also had a blurb stating "Free Iraq Now!" (as if it was free before we invaded and implemented elections). Mr. Snow was a good man and I pray for his family.

Truth be told, liberals have re-defined compassion to exclude conservatives.

For those of you that say Conservatives acted with equal venom...or dismiss it by saying "everybody does it equally"...you're simply wrong (or not paying attention). You know darn well that all of this escalated after the 2000 election. There was sort of a "pandora's box" effect on the Left. What had been whispering (pre 2000) became full-blown screaming. And because it sadly seemed to be accepted by society, what had been considered extreme or uncivil became the norm. Very sad.

It doesn't matter what party you believe in, people basically think about themselves, and say some pretty heartless and stupid things from time to time. We don't need political parties to make ourselves look bad. We do that all by ourselves.

When Kennedy fell ill,President Bush called Kennedy's wife and told her to take care of his good friend. No way no how does the left do that the other way around. If they did, they would have been kicked out of their party.

If you compare the reaction of left-wing bloggers to Tony Snow's death to the reaction of, say, Michelle Malkin's readers to Ted Kennedy's diagnosis, it isn't even close. The negative comments towards Ted Kennedy were few, and were roundly condemned by the vast majority of posters, who wished him well. And, Mike, they're not "just words." It's hateful disrespect shown to the dead and the family.

See, Amy? They can't even control their hate for Senator Kennedy when they're trying to show how good they've been.

Since when are republicans so easily offended? Umm, guys, they're just words! WORDS! It's funny to me that you are all acting like a bunch of wimpy liberal pansies. Get over it! BOTH sides do it!

Those conservatives that spewed venom at Teddy don't proclaim to be the more tolerant, compassionate side of politics. Can you compare apples to apples Bob?

I agree there was some attempts at humor regarding Teddy Kennedy's recent illness that could be characterized as crude. But, this isn't a good comparison to Tony Snow who has always displayed class and good character. What Did Tony ever do to deserve the venom? Absolutely nothing. Now with Teddy Kennedy the list is long and ugly and only liberals seem to forget it just as they have continued to ignore it over his career.

There was no shortage of venom towards Senator Kennedy when he was diagnosed with cancer ... that's a flat-out lie. The Right showed great restraint after Sen. Kennedy became ill with terminal cancer. The few who didn't were properly chasitized by their peers.

In any case, none of the Republican candidates for President were beating down the doors of the so called hate sites of the right. Contrast that with the Dems, who were clamoring for the endorsement of hatemongers such as the Daily Kos, DU, Huffpost, etc who are gleefully celebrating the tragic loss of Tony Snow.

DTMBob - You can't compare Tony Snow with Ted Kennedy. Tony didn't kill anyone, or vote for the killing of Babies.

So where are the big name radio and blogging personalities from the left calling out the left when they do it?

I didn't see nearly as much hatred directed toward Kennedy as toward Snow. Not even in the same universe...

And Peace be unto you, Amy. The reaction is pretty much par for either side when a partisan passes or falls ill. There was no shortage of venom towards Senator Kennedy when he was diagnosed with cancer. Certainly there were decent people of all political persuasions but there was plenty of slime as well. Unfortunately, bad manners aren't party specific.

Projection. Remember that word. Ever single so-called "tolerant" and "compassionate" liberal who calls conservatives bigoted, hateful, racist, etc. is engaging in projection. Liberals are casting their own behaviors and attitudes on conservatives because I rarely see *anything* liberals do as being "tolerant", "progressive" or "compassionate"...they are the biggest haters, bigots, and intolerant people out there.
