John: There is such a thing as "liberal" Republicans. Steve: A gay marriage ban is not Unconstitutional. Judges who make up the laws do not respect the law, The Constitution, the seperation of powers between the legislature and judicial branches of our government or the will of the people.

yes this could have been wisconsin, had we retained a justice with principles, courage and integrity rather than a wmc robot. this calif. decision will enable many individuals who respect the institution of marriage much more than some people we know.

Dan- Six of the seven Justices are Republicans. This is certainly not a case of "liberal" courts gone amok.

Anonymous, since you like the Bible read Genesis again and see what God did to Sodom & Gomorrah. Abraham had a heck of a time finding righteous people. Many of the sins committed in these two cities God had finally had enough with and destroyed them, many of the same sins that California has made legal. California also has two major cites that could qualify as a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, Frisco and LA, don’t you think? Weird isn’t it they both share the same fault line.

This could work against the far left in November, as more social conservatives (both Dem and GOP) in California will probably head to the polls to reaffirm their previous position that marriage is a union between one man and one woman.

"The California Supreme Court is a Republican majority court." This is typicaly liberal talking point. John, where did you get your talking points?
Have you ever heard of liberal republicans, like perhaps the governor of CA?
The justices perverted the system. There was no law allowing gay marriage before their ruling and now there is. These justices created new law. How would you like if the WI. Supreme Court ordered the death penalty and concealed carry legal? Probably not.

Actually, it can't...now. Remember the Constitutional Amendment banning the expansion of gambling? What about the right to bear arms? And the right to a fair trial which even used to apply to companies that make or made paint? Amendments meant nothing with an activist Supreme Court in this state so, gay marriage, King Doyle-totally in play but you're okay with that. How about four more years for W because I think the 22nd Amendment doesn't reflect my whims today?

There are alot of things in the bible that we shouldn't do, but do. Quit trying to do God's work; he/she will be very pissed.

Just think what could & probably would have happened if Loophole Louis got reelected! This would have been tacked onto a budget bill & slipped through & no one would have known until it was too late! Not that those tactics have never been tried before. I smell another Doyleism in the works!

America is on the verge of electing a bi-racial president, but wont give equal rights to gays. Nothing like a vague, ambiguous statement with no support to scare voters into talking about buzz words like "judicial activism" and "preservation of marriage."

The US Constitution ensures us "the equal protection of the laws". The "law" says that one man can marry one woman. This also means that one gay man can marry one woman. If a state wishes to define marriage to include same sex marriage fine... As long as the law is applied to everyone equally The Constitution is not violated. Saying only one man can marry one woman is applied to everyone equally and does not violate The Constitution. But of course we are told an amendment is not needed in WI.

Actually, it can't. The Wisconsin Constitution was amended last year to prohibit gay marriage. Remember your crusade back then? Quit stirring the pot with irrelevance.
