Super Bowl Frenzy: 45 Ways To Win Super Bowl XLV, Ways I-IVBy Jay SorgiNext game: February 6th at Super Bowl XLV vs. Pittsburgh MILWAUKEE - With the 45th edition of the biggest sporting event in the world - well, America at least, and the Green Bay Packers playing in it for the first time in 13 seasons, it's a reality that most people connected to this organization - and almost everyone on the team - have never played in this game. So perhaps some tips are in order to help the team. Nearly every day until kickoff of Super Bowl XLV, we'll give you part of our list of 45 ways for the Packers to win the biggest of big games. I: Stop the celebrations. It's time to get rid of that feeling and focus on the task at hand. That's a type of thing that can permeate far beyond the time you take in the film room and the practice field. In the digital social media era, it's so easy to have people call, tweet, Facebook or text message you things that make you say "wow. We're in the Super Bowl." Don't over-indulge in that thought and feeling process, and get the process going on focusing your mind on the task at hand. II: Take care of the non-football stuff now. During the non-practice days, get the administrative stuff taken care of pronto. If you're married, see if your wife can help out (and make sure you give signs of thanks to her) in return. Then go into hibernation. Turn off the phone, the social media, all that stuff. The more you impersonate a cloistered monk and focus on your job at hand, the better. III: Warning, Steelers' defense is Bears defense on steroids, but it's beatable. They're 1st in points allowed, 2nd in total yardage allowed, first in rushing yards allowed, 12th in passing yards allowed, 5th in interceptions and 1st in sacks. And against that same defense which was almost as good as this year, you scored 36 points at their place. Go back to that tape. Show it, over and over and over again to your squad. Let it help build their confidence. (Not that they shouldn't be confident, anyway.) IV: Shake the cobwebs out, Aaron, and get healthy. Your accuracy wasn't very straight afterward. You went 2-6 for 15 yards with a lot of missed receivers. The word concussion immediately concussed in my head. Make sure you're OK, Aaron...then let the two weeks go and get the cobwebs out of your head. Most Popular |
