Are Gun-Free Zones The Answer?
One of the details surrounding the tragic mass shooting at the Naval Yard in Washington D.C. yesterday is that the facility is a gun-free zone. In fact, if it wasn't for an armed D.C. police officer, the death toll could very well have been much higher than 13. Nevertheless, does it make sense for military related complexes to keep a gun-free policy? Considering prior mass shootings have been at schools and movie theaters with similar policies, what protection is guaranteed anymore?
