MILWAUKEE - An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed by Milwaukee Police Wednesday evening, the department has confirmed.

It happened just before 6:00 p.m. near N. 58th St. and W. Custer Ave on Milwaukee's north side. Police found the subject after he had robbed two beer delivery drivers at gunpoint nearby.

Meliane Williams was smoking a cigarette outside her barber shop when she noticed a man dressed in all black pacing back and forth.

“I said something don’t look right. He looks suspicious,” said Melaine Williams. “And sure enough he was suspicious. “

After being chased, the suspect pulled a semi-automatic Glock pistol out of the waistband of his pants. That's when an MPD officer shot the suspect.

The man died of his injuries on the scene. Police were able to recover both the gun and the money from the robberies.

The involved officer is a nine-year veteran and has been placed on administrative duty while the case is investigated, per normal procedures.
