Deputy busts wrong-way serial drunk driver
MILWAUKEE - An Oconomowoc man with an extensive history of driving drunk was arrested early Sunday morning while driving the wrong way on Clybourn Street near 16th, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Charles Hawes, Jr., 50, had a PBT result of .14. A deputy found a cooler in the front seat with cans of beer.
Hawes has eight prior DUI convictions and a pending DUI in warrant status in Michigan, making this his tenth arrest for drunken driving.
The Sheriff's Office is seeking felony charges of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and DUI-7th against Hawes, with a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
