Woman arrested for filing fake report about police impersonator
JANESVILLE - A woman who reported a police impersonator was later arrested after police suspected her claim was not true.
Twenty-three-year-old Miranda Rivers, or Janesville, told police she had been pulled over near Main and Racine Streets around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to WISC-TV. Rivers said she was forced out of her car at gunpoint, and told to lay across the hood of the vehicle. She said her vehicle was searched, but the only thing that ended up missing was medications.
Rivers said the suspect told her she was pulled over because she matched the description of gas station robber.
However, when police checked nearby surveillance video, they found that things could not have happened the way Rivers said they did. She was then arrested for obstruction.
