Wisconsin's Johnson appointed to budget committee
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson has been appointed to the bipartisan committee assigned to come up with a long-term budget agreement.
He joins another Wisconsin Republican, Paul Ryan, who is expected to co-chair the group.
Johnson said Thursday in a statement that he ran for office to do everything he could to help prevent the bankrupting of America and he appreciates being named to the committee.
Johnson voted against the deal that ended the 16-day partial government shutdown.
