Wisconsin woman convicted in murder-for-hire plot
Could face 12 1/2 years in prison
MERRILL -- Jessica Strom tried to hire a law criminal justice classmate to kill a man to whom she was engaged, but instead of working with her, the classmate went to police instead.
The Wausau Daily Herald reports Strom was in court Friday for a hearing on charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide. She struck a plea deal instead, agreeing to plead no contest to solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide.
The reduced charge only carries a 12 1/2 year prison term as opposed to the 60 years she could have been facing for the first-degree intentional homicide charge.
Strom will be due back in court for sentencing in July.
