Wisconsin veterans first through the gates at reopened WWII Memorial
MILWAUKEE - The WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. has officially been reopened, and it is a big relief for veterans now that the government shutdown is over.
The memorial was one of many Washington landmarks that reopened Thursday morning. Veterans from Wisconsin were the first ones through the gates.
The National Zoo in Washington will re-open Friday. To encourage crowds to return, the zoo is offering a 10 percent discount on food and merchandise through Sunday.
