Wisconsin men haul 160 walleye from Devils Lake, well above legal limit
DEVILS LAKE, ND - "I haven't heard of a case this big in the 2 years I've been a warden," said North Dakota Game and Fish warden Jim Job.
According to the North Dakota Game and Fish Department 6 fishermen, all from southeast Wisconsin, traveled to Devil's Lake and caught well beyond their legal limit.
Five men and one minor caught about 160 walleye. The daily limit is 5 with a maximum possession of 10 walleye each.
"That's kind of unheard of to be that far over," Job said.
The game warden explains this bust is all thanks to a tip call.
"The person had seen the same group of individuals going out multiple times during the day and sometimes cleaning fish multiple times during the day," Job said.
That's when wardens stepped in and searched.
"We don't like to see anyone who comes and takes advantage of the resources," Job said.
