Wisconsin banks merging at rapid rate
MILWAUKEE - Banks in Wisconsin are merging at a very rapid rate, and industry experts say the trend will probably continue for the foreseeable future.
The Journal Sentinel reports than since the start of 2013, more than a dozen state banks have either changed hands or revealed plans to merge.
There are many reasons for the spate of mergers, including high expenses to problems with new loans.
The banking industry as a whole is going through a shift right now as well, with fewer people doing in person banking, preferring instead to make us of smartphone and tablet apps or online banking.
