Wis. DNR looking to buy tree seeds
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is looking to buy tree seeds from the public.
The DNR has established seed buying stations around the state and at state nurseries in Wisconsin Rapids, Boscobel and Hayward.
The agency is looking for seeds for specific species, including balsam fire, jack pine, basswood with wings attached, butternut, shagbark hickory, sugar maple, swamp white oak, red oak, white oak and walnut.
The state nursery program needs large amounts of seeds every year to meet reforestation goals.
