MILWAUKEE - A beloved Milwaukee makeup artist who embraced the Third Ward business district died Wednesday night in a house fire. Sarah Brucker was found inside her condo in the town of Delafield.

On Water Street in the Third Ward sits Blush Beauty Boutique. Brucker opened the high-end store back in 2004.

“She lived and breathed makeup and she was the best,” explained Jhousy Leon. Leon is the current owner of the boutique. She was also a business partner and good friend.

“It was like her calling to make other people comfortable and make them look their best,” said Leon.

But unfortunately Brucker’s life was cut short when her condo along Pewaukee Lake in Delafield caught fire. It’s unclear what started the fire, but we know two other families escaped.

Once the fire was under control, fire crews found the 36-year-old Brucker in the unit she shared with her children. Leon said the children, ages four and seven, were with their father.

Investigators tell TODAY’S TMJ4 the fire appeared to have started in Brucker’s unit. Foul play has not been ruled out. Besides determining the cause, part of the investigation is to find out how everyone except Brucker escaped.

Leon said Brucker’s loss is felt throughout the community. “A lot of customers came into the store and hugged all the girls and the phones at the shop have been ringing.”

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s department is leading the investigation. The State Fire Marshal is helping out. A preliminary cause of death could come by Friday.
