WAUWATOSA - Parents admit hearing another gunman made it into an elementary school in Georgia has them on edge as we are just two weeks from the start of school.

Many area schools have stepped up security since last year.

Lincoln Elementary school in Port Washington redesigned the school's entry way to make it safer.

Wauwatosa just hired a school security officer who will oversee the district's plans to improve security.  They've added a new screening process for visitors as well.

"I don't think it crosses my mind as we get ready, it's always on my mind.  I think that's the reality of the world we live in right now," said Wauwatosa Superintendent Phil Ertl.

Mukwonago high school also remodeled their front entrance to make it secured.
