Wauwatosa neighborhood hopes aldermen uproot plans for new apartment complex
WAUWATOSA -- Developers want to build a new apartment complex, but they'll have to build a consensus of support first.
A proposal approved recently by the Wauwatosa Planning & Zoning Commission includes plans for a 134-unit, five story apartment building at 2100 Mayfair Road.
"We are excited to be a part of the strong growth that Wauwatosa is experiencing today," said the developer John Czarnecki. "With the continued increase in area employment, THE 2100 project will help the community address the need for quality housing. We look forward to being a part of the Wauwatosa community."
Neighbors, on the other hand, think the apartment building would be the worst kind of neighbor; they claim the complex would add traffic, noise, reduce privacy and block sunlight.
A public meeting is scheduled for March 18th at Wauwatosa City Hall to discuss this and other issues.
