WATERTOWN - First lady Michelle Obama will be in Watertown Thursday to promote people drinking more water.

The visit will put the city in the national spotlight for a few moments, and it's a chance for Watertown to highlight its rich history. That includes the birth of something very familiar to us today: kindergarten.

Today, kindergarten is a given across the United States, but it wasn't always that way. America's first kindergarten happens to be in Watertown, Wisconsin.

The Octagan house is another historic landmark in the city, which has rich history. It started as a mill town, with industry powered by the Rock River.
