Water main break closes South Milwaukee High School
MILWAUKEE -- South Milwaukee High School has been closed due to a water main break.
ATTENTION: All High School classes were just dismissed due to a water main break. High school students were sent home. Middle School is OPEN— South Milwaukee Sch. (@SoMilwSchools) February 10, 2014
The city water department is currently searching for the location of the pipe burst, according to Jennifer Sielafff, South Milwaukee School District's director of personnel.
Sielafff said that while students were dismissed at 9:45 a.m. Monday -- because there was no running water inside the school -- staff had the option to stay or leave for the day.
Students will not have to make up the missed day of school, according to the district's Twitter page.
The high school will not have to make up the lost time for today as we are still within the required number of minutes.— South Milwaukee Sch. (@SoMilwSchools) February 10, 2014
