UPDATE 2:31 p.m.: There were no injuries in a semi truck fire on Northbound I-94 just north of the Seven Mile Rd. on-ramp this morning.

The fire ignited after the driver stated that the truck started losing power.

Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy was unable to extinguish a small flame coming from underneath the vehicle, according to a release.

Officials shut down I-94 Northbound and East Frontage Rd. to protect nearby vehicles from a potential rupture and explosion from the vehicles natural gas fuel.

Plumes of smoke were caused when the two tanks ignited, burning off the remaining fuel.

Northbound I-94 was closed for one hour before two lanes were reopened.
