Two teens arrested following theft of $900 puppy

HALES CORNERS -- Two teens were arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing a $900 dog from the Hales Corners Pet Store, 5430 S.108 St.

Hales Corners police said the maltese poodle was taken by two 17-year-old females posing as customers around 7 p.m. Tuesday. One suspect placed the puppy into a purse and both suspects left the store, according to police.

A parent of one of the suspect’s recognized his daughter in surveillance photos and contacted police, who contacted one of the suspects and arranged for the return of the dog, according to police.

Both suspects were arrested and turned over to their parents.

Charges are pending.
