Tribal Heritage Crossing opens
OSHKOSH - The Tribal Heritage Crossing opened Monday, linking it to the Wiouwash State trail across Lake Butte de Morts.
Today's opening included a linking ceremony with Native American color guard and speakers. There's also a community open house and interactive displays. Also, under the bridge is amazing artwork.
Mark Kantola, the communications manager of the trail says "it's a one-of-a-kind trail, not only for Wisconsin, but in America. We couldn't find any other trail over a mile long that had fishing access, and an incredible kiosk dedicated to the culture and rich history of the 11 federally recognized tribes of Wisconsin.
This trail is apart of the Highway 41 project. The trail cost about $1 million dollars to build.
