Trial in fatal parking structure failure begins
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A judge has rejected a last-minute bid to delay a trial to determine who was at fault when part of a parking garage gave way and killed a teenager in Milwaukee.
Judge Christopher Foley says it would be unfair to stop the trial to give Advance Cast Stone the chance to investigate whether a tow truck driver hit the 13-ton panel two weeks before it fell.
The Journal Sentinel reports
Advance Cast Stone says it only recently was able to contact witnesses who saw a tow truck near the exit two weeks before the collapse.
Families of the 15-year-old who died, Jared Kellner, and two others who were injured in the 2010 accident are suing the firm that installed the panel and Milwaukee County, the owners of the structure.
