WAUKESHA - This is severe weather awareness week and agencies around the state tested the ways they let people know about dangerous storms.

Waukesha was part of the statewide tornado drill at 1:00 pm this afternoon. There was a mock tornado warning , a short time later.

Andy Stenberg is a supervisor at the Waukesha County Communications center.

"It's really something that we need to be prepared for. It's one of those things that doesn't happen very often but when it does, it's good to be prepared and know what to do." said Stenberg.

Officials say the drill gives them the opportunity identify procedures that need improvement.
