MADISON -- Police in Madison are warning of new phone scam.

At least 25 people have been targeted in the past few days. Someone is calling saying they are a police officer. The number also shows up as the police on caller ID.

The scammer tells the person that there is an outstanding warrant for their arrest and they need to pay a fine. Victims are then asked for a credit card number to pay the fake fine.

If you receive a call like this, do not give your credit card information over the phone, and immediately report it to your local police department.
