Target sued in Wisconsin over data breach
MADISON -- Retail giant Target is facing the first class-action lawsuit filed in Wisconsin over a massive data breach in the end of 2013.
The Journal Sentinel is reporting that the suit was filed in the US District Court in Madison on Thrusday, naming a man from Madison and bank out of Wausau in the suit.
The lawsuit alleges that because of Target's inability to protect consumer's financial information, numerous costs were taken on by both customers and banks in order to deal with the aftermath of the breach.
Fitchburg native Ken Schafer is representing the customer class in the suit, while First Integrity Bank of Wausau is representing banks in Wisconsin.
