Suspect arrested in shooting of 10-year-old at playground

UPDATE:  When the suspect was arrested, three other individuals – a 20-year-old Milwaukee man, a 45-year-old Milwaukee woman and 20-year-old Milwaukee woman – were also arrested for aiding a felon, according to police.


MILWAUKEE -- An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Sierra Guyton.

Guyton was shot in the head on May 21 near 28th and Clarke Streets on Milwaukee's north side. Guyton was playing on the playground at Clarke Street School when she was caught in the crossfire between two people shooting at each other.

She continues to receive medical treatment and remains in serious, critical condition.

At a press conference Monday afternoon, Milwaukee police chief Edward Flynn said the suspect had 15 prior arrests and is a convicted felon.

He said the previous arrests include battery, robbery and motor vehicle theft.

"We need this community to stay engaged and enraged," Flynn said.
The second suspect is still at-large.
