Summerfest Rock 'n Sole run has some changes this year
MILWAUKEE - Thousands of runners take on the Hoan Bridge Saturday.
The Summerfest "Rock ‘n Sole" will get people in the summer spirit. Between eight and nine thousand people have registered for the run.
It was a runner's paradise at the Health and Fitness Expo inside the Italian Conference Center. They’re gearing up for the 5K, half marathon, and quarter marathon.
This year, the start line was moved because they're only using the Hoan Bridge in one direction due to construction. The start location is at the corner of Young Street and Erie Street in the Third Ward.
Cathy Brautigam has run the race twice before.
“It's just a ton of people. I think they appreciate the view, because it's a view you really can't get anywhere else in Milwaukee," says Brautigam.
The breathtaking sights include the downtown Milwaukee skyline, and Lake Michigan. Final preparations are wrapping up for the big race Saturday. Back inside the expo, folks checked out the vendors.
Anyone who wants to register for Rock 'n Sole can still do so at the expo until seven p-m Friday. Meanwhile, there's more fun in store for runners after they cross the finish line.
"Our post festival party will be happening until noon,” explains Jess Owens of Summerfest. “They can enjoy great live music, enjoy some beverages, and really make a day of it."
