Students in Racine get extended break after fire

RACINE - Some elementary and middle school students in Racine will get an extended vacation after a fire caused heavy damage to Mitchell's gymnasium area.

Mitchell Elementary students will return to school on Wednesday, March 5th. Those students will be attending at Wind Point Elementary School, which is currently empty. Bus services will be provided.

Middle school students will return to their currently damaged building, but not until March 18th. 

The Thursday morning blaze was contained to the gym. Nobody was injured. Crews had the flames under control around 4:30 a.m.
