Southridge Mall bus stop change means longer walk for riders
GREENDALE - Southridge Mall is moving its bus stop further away from the mall entrance to the edge of the parking lot. It's that decision that has some riders and driver worried about safety.
Local 998 President Rick Bassler said the move will mean riders will have to walk through the mall's parking lot to get inside.
"People walking through the parking lot - you're just waiting for an accident to happen." said Bassler.
Bassler said the walk will be especially difficult for seniors and families with children.
Mall management declined to talk to us on camera, but said the move would actually improve safety. They issued the following statement:
"Our first priority is our shoppers and employees and in no way does this effort change our goals."
The changes are scheduled to take place November 1st.
People against the plan say they will hold a protest outside the mall Thursday at 11:00 am.
