Authorities are on alert as a wind chill warning goes into effect this weekend.

While the governor considered an order to close all schools on Monday, now he is turning to local school systems to make the decision.

Many cities, like Milwaukee, are even making the decision to shut down non-essential city services, like garbage and recycling collection.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Put together an emergency kit with blankets in your car
  • Keep the gas tank at least half full so you can keep the engine running
  • If you are cold inside your home, don't use a grill or any type of outdoor heater inside. It could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
